Thanks For The Bus Ride, Sports Illustrated!

Usually the Letters section of SI wouldn't garner this type of response, but this is just too funny to pass up.

In response to this SI story a few weeks ago about abusive college basketball fans, there's this letter in the March 24 edition, under the subhead "Abusive Fans":

"I was shocked to see, in a photo of the Oregon student section, my son partaking in the harassment of UCLA's Kevin Love. When he came home the following weekend, his car was taken away and he headed back to school on a bus. I am embarrassed and wish to apologize to Kevin and his family." -- Armando Navarro, Clackamas, Ore.
Below is the concerned photo that ran in SI (sorry for the bad scan; the amateur Photoshopping is ours). On a limb, we're guessing the now car-less Duck fan is the guy with both birds flipped.

So you flick off Kevin Love at a heated PAC-10 game. Someone takes a photo of it that gets published in one of the most popular magazines ever. Your parents see said photo. They take away your car and send you back to school on a bus. Then they write to said magazine about their punishment. And you end up here ... We're sorry.

Is it wrong of us just to feel
a little sorry for this guy?

c'mon...two words. AWE. SOME. and the best part? Dad sent him back on a bus. They didn't even drive him. Dad OWNS that kid.

Way to go Dad! You did what more parents need to do with their misbehaving kids.

Now that's a good father. Good for you, Mr. Navarro.

Does his dad still wipe his ass as well?

Dad doesn't wipe it, but sure does kick it...

You guys are talking about the wrong guy. I know exactly who the guy with the two birds flapping, he lives in Davis, CA. I am 100% sure on this. The kid with the awesome dad has to be someone else.

That is awesome. Dad deserves a Father of the Year award. And yes, you did what most parents need to be doing with their "precious snowflakes".

Give that guy a beer.

Speaking as a college student, good job dad, and don't worry, he will appreciate it later on...

Beautiful.

Flipping Lowe off wasn't that horrible an offense. But it did show an incredible lack of creativity, and I would expect better from college students.

$100,000 is a terrible thing to waste.

I'm a recently retired school teacher, and I have been saying for years that kids haven't changed - parents have. The only difference in this kid's dad and mine is I would have had to ride on that bus standing up.

Well, I'm a school teacher that retired 10 years eariler than you did and my dad would've made walk to school barefoot through the snow, uphill the entire way.

Yeah David's right, that wasn't me in that picture

no, no, no, no. This "guy" who's flipping off Kevin Love who totally deserves to be flipped off anyway, s my best friend and he's from Clackamas Oregon. Not Davis CA or whatever the heck you thought. he's a great guy and it has been taken care of and handled appropriately. He has his car back and is back to being just fine at UO.
